Waiting The tables are laid with the smoothest white linen Dexterously set with sailing swans, peacocks, doves folded and fantastical to the eye Napkins wait and he waits for her Tecach na'r gorwel Tecach na't gorwell Hithau Mor dawel ac more ddisglair mor dawel ac mor ddisglair y disgwylarwch y disgwylarwch

The Green Man And you breathe down into the wave and the wave rises And you breathe down into the wave and the wave rises rising and falling rising and falling rising Like a bellows Your have held your breath for so long Tell me where you were when I didn't see you When you hold your breath who hold you? You are so quiet Do you breathe your heart out? Do you breathe out hope? Do you breathe out joy? Do you breathe out stone? How can we voyage without you breathing in breathing out and these clouds you exhale from your leafy stone Do you breathe out green leaves? Do you breathe out mist? Do you breathe out joy? One last fragrant breath? I was waiting for that breath you held for so long I was waiting for that breath to fill the sky And you breathe down into the wave and the wave rises And you breathe down into the wave and the wave rises rising and falling rising and falling rising Holding : holding course : holding :

Word Fish I thought I'd found your note It was pinned to the hem of my skirt But the words had washed away Gone swimming off to jumble and jostle themselves letters parting company making new phrases to shout out re-configuring splitting like a shoal of brightly coloured zebra fish those letters swam and as they flashed by they spelt out hnnngrrrmmaaa sshht torrow oo....shooottae rrr cptg cptghaaa sometimes they spelt a name and from the corners of their eye the swimmers passing by thought 'I know that name Oh wait a minute, thats my name' but by then the fish were far away re-configuring into another way another language creeeeayyyyeeeannnnaaaa pscgghwwww yaayarschefamissstashhhh tpa haya finnnnnnssssssoooooo chch hoooooo Well thats what the word fish do Give them a chance and they're off I don't blame them I would too

The Quad 03:54
(spoken) They're coming in These giant ladies with acres of stone beneath their feet And between their fingers Goleudydd a Goleunos Arglwyddesau'r dawns Yn plygu corff rhiwfaint They begin to circle, so wild and fast that their names flick away from us And their spinning hands stir up a swirling palette of colours! How they circle and how they shake on this stone dancefloor How they spiral and dip, a hundred times faster than thought In their fantastical, colourful, indescribable skirts! And their eyes call in light from air and their steps call out remembering from the rock.. ...Until air and stone have no choice but to dance too and the room rises like a bellows like a bellows like a bellows... Ac ryn ni'n hanner cofio hanner cofio, hanner cofio eu henwau ryfedd yn yr ieithoedd anghysbell a disglair.

Y Dawnswyr 05:05
Goleudydd a Goleunos Dros y llawr fel rhiwbeth anweledig yn pasio trwodd Y breuddwyd y dawnswyr Those are dancing skirts Those are dancing feet They are rock They are air A shattering sea confusing to the eye They know the subtle arts of weaving air into stone (spoken) Every departing holds in its outstretched hand a seed, waiting for their return (sung) A dyma fi yn gofyn i'r colofnau ddawnsio I gymryd fy llaw Surprising all this magnificence dancing breath and stone Am eiliad am oes am eiliad am oes I gymryd fy llaw Stone column take my hand Surprising all this magnificence dancing breath and stone

about

The music you hear on Canur' Adeilad / Singing the Building was inspired by spending time in an extraordinary ornate Gothic building on the sea front at Aberystwyth. The Old College was originally built to be a hotel but the owner went bankrupt. The pennies of the miners and the people of Aberystyth helped to buy it so it could be turned into a University for Wales. The music is our instinctive response to the architecture, the acoustics and the histories of the people who inhabited this building and our imaginings for the future.
